Why I Don’t Call Myself an “AI Expert”

The term “AI expert” is everywhere — and that’s precisely why I avoid it.

AI is not a single skill. It’s a collection of:

  • techniques
  • tools
  • models
  • assumptions

What matters more than expertise in models is understanding:

  • where AI adds value
  • where it introduces risk
  • where it should not be used at all

In complex environments, credibility comes from:

  • knowing limitations
  • communicating uncertainty
  • designing systems people trust

I’d rather be known for applying AI responsibly than for claiming mastery of it.
